Work-Study Program

The Shambhava School of Yoga at Konalani Yoga Ashram is currently accepting applications for our residential work-study program. Designed for those wishing to delve deeply into a spiritual practice, the work study program offers students the opportunity to devote time to serious spiritual study and live in a residential ashram. Participation in the work-study program is volunteer and requires a 3 month committment.

Ashram residents’ main practice is Seva, or selfless service.  Seva is considered “Karma Yoga” or the Yoga of action.  Throughout the day students participate in different Seva projects designed to maintain the ashram facility and offer a welcoming and nourishing environment for our guests.  Prospective students should have experience with cleaning, cooking, and grounds maintenance.

During this time students are encouraged to practice Japa, or mantra repetition, to develop a conscious awareness and presence of mind.   Work-study participants take our morning Pranayama and Hatha Yoga Classes three times per week. Students do Seva six days and have one day off each week.  Accommodations are dorm-style with limited storage space available.

For more information, and to fill out an application, click here. When applying, please specify your wish to volunteer at the Kona branch ashram.
