Day 28 • Kitchen and Meal Guidelines
Today we’ll take a look at the kitchen, meal, and food-related guidelines at the ashram. The kitchen is one of the most vital and sacred spaces in our community. In fact, the original ]ashrams in Indiana and then Colorado were funded by ashram-run vegetarian restaurants. So it’s no surprise that we approach the kitchen with reverence, care, and clarity.
These guidelines cover practical expectations, like cleanliness and timing, but they also help foster a deeper awareness of how we nourish ourselves and each other. Being mindful in the kitchen is not just about food—it’s about presence, gratitude, and supporting the community with love and intention.
After reading the guidelines and answering the reflection question, you’ll move into a calming Puraka Rechaka Pranayama practice, followed by a Breath Awareness Meditation to close.
