Day 30•Health Protocols

Congratulations and thank you for participating in this 30-day journey of awakening, practice, and self-reflection. It’s no small thing to commit your time and energy in this way, and we truly honor the dedication you’ve shown.

Today’s content is still important: we’ll be covering our Health Protocols—simple agreements we follow at the ashram to help everyone stay healthy and safe. Please take a moment to read through those carefully.

To conclude your journey, you’ll be guided through a final integration practice, including Nadi Shodhana, Robin’s Breath, and a final Breath Awareness Meditation. These practices offer a gentle, centered way to complete the arc of this journey—bringing balance, clarity, and closure.

As you know, completing this 30-day journey now means you’re ready to schedule your one-on-one interview and potentially begin the next chapter: joining us here at the ashram for the work-study experience. Please be sure to fill out the form below to let us know you’ve completed the journey and share some times you’re available this week to talk further.

Thank you again for showing up so fully. We’re really excited to connect with you soon.

Health Protocol

Staying Safe in a Group Setting

Konalani Yoga Ashram Health Protocol

Living in close community means that illness can spread quickly—one person with a cold can easily lead to the entire ashram falling sick. This impacts our shared responsibilities and the functioning of the ashram. For this reason, we ask everyone to remain highly aware of symptoms and take proactive steps to protect each other’s health.

Post-Travel Precautions

Due to increased exposure while traveling, all new arrivals must wear a mask indoors for five days. You may remove the mask after that period with a negative COVID test.

Symptom Awareness

You are most contagious 2–3 days before symptoms appear. While we can’t predict illness before it starts, we ask you to be proactive at the first signs—even a sore throat or runny nose—by isolating and following these protocols.

Health Guidelines Summary

1. Self-Isolation:

If you feel unwell, notify a manager and take time to isolate. You may practice outdoors (e.g., at the Ganesh shrine). There’s usually a way to make your practice work.

2. Mask-Wearing:

If you have any symptoms—regardless of the cause—wear a mask indoors until fully recovered. Even allergies or mild symptoms can evolve unexpectedly. Masking is a non-negotiable part of life here when sick.

3. Hygiene & Cleanliness:

  • Wash hands frequently.

  • Use sanitizer when needed.

  • Cover coughs/sneezes with a tissue or elbow.

  • Disinfect shared surfaces after use.

4. Resting & Returning to Seva:

As you start feeling better, work with your manager to gently rejoin ashram life. Light outdoor tasks, sun, and movement can aid healing.

Please don’t leave the ashram or engage in recreation while resting—if you’re too sick to work, you’re also too sick to go to the beach. Recovery means staying present and finding appropriate ways to re-engage.

5. Communication & Mutual Support:

Open communication is key. Be honest about how you’re feeling and receptive to guidance. We’ve developed these protocols through years of lived experience. When both sides sincerely ask “What’s possible?”, the process flows smoothly.

Please note: You’re only required to read this overview before your arrival. Once you’re here, you’ll revisit these protocols in more depth and take a short quiz. You can view the full guidelines on our website or download the PDF version.

Reflection Question:

How do you feel about the shared responsibility of keeping the ashram community healthy? Do you have any questions or concerns about the health protocols outlined above, including masking & self-isolation when in doubt of your health?
