Authentic Instructors
A Sacred and Safe Space
The tradition of the Yoga Ashram always prioritizes the sacredness of the student-teacher relationship. This means that we keep the online yoga teacher training classes small, give personalized feedback, take time for mentoring talks during your yoga teacher training course, and remain available always for that level of communication after graduation from yoga teacher training. It’s the Ashram way— the teacher student relationship is a sacred vessel, and it’s one we take very seriously and strive to hold to the highest possible standards.
Empowered Teachers with Experience
Abhaya and Satyam are not only 500 hour E-RYT Yoga Alliance registered teachers, but are also Empowered Acharyas in the ShambhavAnanda Yogic Tradition. This means that their spiritual teacher has recognized in them a maturity and ability to teach the subtle and valuable aspects of the ShambhavAnanda Tradition. They are also Honors graduates from their respective Universities and truly love the art of clear communication and take great joy in being effective teachers. This means they make incredible efforts to reach all learning styles during your Online Yoga Teacher Training in order to generate the most efficient and heart opening teacher training on the planet. It’s their life’s work, and their daily passion, it’s the mission of the Ashram.
Satyam’s Story
Looking back, he realizes that it makes perfect sense why he always volunteered to lead stretches on his traveling Little League World Series Baseball team growing up— he was destined to be a yoga teacher! But it wasn’t till many years later, while in college, that he discovered yoga as a means for ending back pain due to scoliosis. Surprisingly, though, he realized that his back not only felt better, but his mind also found quiet— an experience that truly stuck with him and led him to the Ashram immediately after graduating with Honors from DePaul University in 2005. He has an overflowing sense of humor, loves contemporary dance and movement practices, and is an avid reader and writer of Yogic Philosophy and is the Director of the ShambhavAnanda Philosophy Program.
+Abhaya's Adventures
Abhaya is the rare individual who discovered meditation before yoga. While studying Political Science at Georgetown University, she not only discovered meditation, but soon became the student director of the meditation center at her school. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, she moved into the ShambhavAnanda Yoga ashram and was leading yoga teacher trainings within a year, a position that is usually only offered after many years. Her personal yoga journey from the realm of the mind to the realm of the body and spirit inspires her to help her students along that path themselves, and to have fun along the way. She has lead over forty 200-Hr yoga teacher trainings and brings an incredible degree of precision and insight to her work. She loves practicing yoga outside with music, minimalist trail running, playing her Ukulele, swimming in the ocean, and cooking without any recipes.
