Homework

Aloha Yogis,

Here are some focal points for cultivating Tapasya without tension in the coming weeks:

-practice “building your temple” one stone at a time- don’t worry about the final product.  We practiced this together in ustrasana, you can do this in any asana, but also in life!  When your to-do list is incredibly long, or a project is daunting, can you explore taking it one breath at a time and One step at a time? What happens?

-Tapasya requires regularity.  Is there a way for you to build in a daily practice?  In our tradition, 20-30 minutes of meditation 2x a day is ideal, but you can be creative.  A little is better than none.  Maybe you prefer focusing on your asana practice, or finding built-in check points- like taking a conscious breath before your meal, doing mantra during your commute, our imagining energy filling your psychic system as you water your plants!

-Layering the work of the core- always starting with the deep core (small, slow, conscious unweighting movements) to brighten the deeper layers of musculature, and then bigger movements that call upon the surface of the core to flex, extend, and rotate the trunk.  Explore releasing the functional core and coming back to the deep work to make sure that the functional bully muscles don’t take over.  We explored this on our back, on our belly, and in table top.
