Homework & Practice Teaching
Instead of preparing an 8 minute sequence, we will present our homework in a “show and tell style.” Please Plan to share one movement we discovered that accomplishes Goal 1 and another movement we discovered that accomplishes Goal 2.
Here are the 2 goals:
Goal 1) Continue to work with movements that first activate the deep core, then add on movements that layer in additional muscles like we did it parighasana, Anjaneyasana, and Virabhadrasana 1. Move slowly so the deep core stays engaged even as other musculature comes online. Then, slowly come back to center so the functional muscles can release and only the deep core muscles remain on. Find at least 1 movement or Asana that allows you to accomplish this.
Goal 2) Explore dynamic scapular stability by bringing awareness to the ribcage connecting to the scapula, and then adding slow, controlled movements so that the scapula can glide and slide without losing stability, like our class examples in table top, forearm plank, and Downward facing dog. Find one more position in which to explore the scapula, try circling, barrel rolls, and figure 8s
