Day 1•Why Meditate?

Welcome to your first official lesson in your 30-day journey! It’s going to be an amazing trip—you’ll learn meditation, pranayama, and be introduced to the foundations of the Shambhavananda Yoga tradition. There is so much to come.

In today’s introductory lecture, we explore one of the most fundamental questions: Why meditate? We’ll reflect on this through the lens of the yogic tradition. Afterward, we’ll spend a few minutes together practicing Floating into Stillness, a meditation guided by a verse from the Vijnana Bhairava, an ancient yogic text that forms a foundation of the Kashmir Shaivite philosophy that informs Shambhavananda Yoga.
