The Path: Shiva Sutra 3.7

When it comes to meditation, especially the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism, there are two understandings of the word “path”: the first is the path/practice we use to direct our mind and awareness inside, and the second is the path we use to surrender the vehicle of our practice in order to fully arrive at our inner destination. In everyday life this is obvious— you drive to work in your car, and then get out of your car to arrive and begin your job. But when it comes to meditation this can be tricky, as we can easily get stuck on the surface of our practice and miss the immersive experience that lies beyond the mind. In this class we utilize the Shiva Sutras and ancient texts of Kashmir Shaivism, as well as the lineage texts of ShambhavAnanda Yoga, to explore our own experience of taking our practice beyond the mind, beyond the path, into the experience of meditation itself.
